Last weekend, I had the privilege of the best seats in the house to take pictures of some of the best athletes in the state of Minnesota.
What an incredible experience to watch the best AAA, AA and A State High School tournament teams battle it out for the titles they deserve.
Interestingly enough, rival towns come together to show a lot of heart and camaraderie, including with their opponents. Moments like that are priceless.
I am so incredibly proud of Pelican Rapids wrestlers Carson Haugrud and Matty Ziebell.
My heart went out to the seniors who didn’t “officially ” place. Pelican senior Carson Haugrud’s mom Tina said it best: Most kids dream their whole life about getting here and our boys realized that dream. There were tears of sadness mixed in with such pride. They have nothing to hang their heads about.
They represented their school and community and we are proud of the way they carried themselves on and off the mat.
Editor’s Note: Rachel Ziebell photographed the Minnesota State High School League wrestling tournament, and was so thrilled with the experience she emailed this note to the Press. Her photographs have appeared in the Press throughout the season, and also in this week’s edition–featuring Pelican wrestlers who competed at state.
