I was born and raised on a farm near Rollag, Minnesota, and attended and graduated from Pelican Rapids schools.  After one year of college, I moved east, working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for six years. While there, I met my husband; we later moved to Virginia (just outside Washington, D.C.) where we still live.

My parents moved to Pelican in 1999.  Three years ago, they moved into assisted living where my mother resides today.  My father moved from his earthly dwelling (December 2016) to his heavenly mansion.

I write this letter to say “thanks for staying with the stuff” to the many of you who never left the Pelican Rapids area.  You made the town what it is today: the city council, the merchants, the health care providers/caregivers, the farmers, the school administrators and teachers, and so many others.  Kudos to all who make Pelican Rapids the wonderful place it is.

As I walked the streets in December, I again realized what a great place Pelican Rapids is!

Thank you, God bless, and Happy New Year.
