While living in Pelican Rapids, during the fall of 2016, Police Chief Jeff Stadum treated me with extraordinary kindness and dignity while I was suffering from a mental health crisis.

He was very respectful and offered me choices to resolve my situation, which in turn helped me feel more in control and validated as a human being.

On another occasion in the spring of 2017 while living in an apartment building in Pelican Rapids, he came to my rescue by advocating the help I needed to live safely.

I now give Mental Health Awareness Presentations and share how kindness and respect have empowered me and took the edge off my crisis.

I will always be grateful to Chief Stadum for his patience and thoughtful gestures.
