Funeral services was 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2016 at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids, MN with Pastor Ethan Fearing officiating. Burial followed in North Immanuel Cemetery.

Visitation was held for one hour prior to the funeral service.

Selvin Ernest Trosvig was born on February 12, 1923 near Rothsay, MN to Oscar and Mabel (Sundahl) Trosvig. He grew up on the family farm and attended the old school house near North Immanuel Lutheran. During his lifetime, Selvin worked 30 years for the Great Northern Railroad, doing the heavy work of lying down railroad ties. He was married to Eleanor Gladys Gunderson on June 21, 1973 in Sisseton, SD. Selvin will be remembered for driving from town to town in his red pickup, stopping at all of the cafés or just on a dusty gravel road to talk to whoever would stop. He would often invite people to join him on a trip to the casino. For many years he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, traveling, and playing cards, especially whist. For the last five years, he has been a resident of the Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen, MN.

He has two nieces who survive him: Karen Howard and Cynthia Sipes. He was preceded in death by his wife; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.
