Lowell Skunberg was born on November 6, 1950, in Pelican Rapids, MN, to Leonard Oliver Skunberg and Ida Cecelia (Dalager) Skunberg. Lowell, a non-smoker, passed May 9, 2022, from pulmonary fibrosis. He grew up on the family farm known as “Sunny Side Farm” in Erhard, MN, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1968. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps, earning a Nation Service Defense and Good Conduct medal with an honorable discharge as a Corporal. Lowell lived by the Founding Fathers’ principles and provided an exemplary model of patriotism to all around him. He completed his Associate’s Degree at Fergus Falls Community College in 1974 and Bachelor of Arts through Bemidji State University in 1976. He served as a Conservation Officer for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Lowell divided his life between the family farm in Erhard, MN, and his farm in Chester, MT. He attended Grace Lutheran Church in Erhard, MN, and Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Chester, MT. Lowell was a courteous, fiercely independent Norweigan with a great sense of humor who loved farming. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida (Dalager) Skunberg, his father, Leonard Skunberg, and one sister Claudia (Winston) Backen. Two sisters survive Lowell, Marlys (Ernest) Bahnmiller of Great Falls, MT, Pegge (Erik) Skunberg of Loveland, CO, and one brother Lenny (Ilona) Skunberg of Salmon, ID, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements pending. In lieu of flowers, the family requested a donation to be made out to a charity of one’s choice.
