Jaycees event on Lida

Believed to be of the longest-running ice fishing contests in the state, the annual Lake Lida derby is slated for Feb. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Following the event, the annual “Dough For Joe” Ice Plunge will be presented, and music by the band “Blue Grit.”

All proceeds will go toward charitable and community work by the Pelican Rapids Area Jaycees.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 25 walleye, northern and bass. Also, for the top ten crappie and sunfish.

Registration begins at 9 a.m.

Concessions will also be available on the ice.

The Jaycees are also selling raffle tickets with the first place prize a Yeti Tundra cooler, and second place a $200 gift card at Scheel’s.

Grandrud event on Ida

Lake Ida will be the location of the annual “Luke Grandrud Memorial Youth Fishing Derby.”

The event is being hosted by the Cormorant Sportsmans Club and the Cormorant Pub.

The contest will run from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and is open to kids 15 years and under.

All tackle and bait will be provided.

Raffle tickets will be sold on the ice. Prizes include gift certificates from the Cormorant Pub.

There will be prizes awarded for the biggest fish; and participation gifts will be avaialbe for all kids at the event.

The location is a quarter mile west of the Roadhouse on County Road 4.
