With a Badlands backdrop, filmmaker-athlete John Peter, right, with his able assistant Aaron Haugen. Donโ€™t let the โ€œHawley Nuggetsโ€ sweatshirt fool you. Haugen is an educator at the Hawley public schools, but heโ€™s a Pelican guy at heart, graduating in 2008. Peter is a 2001 Pelican grad who returned to his hometown to teach and coach. The pair filmed the 2023 Maah Daah Hey race.

Pelican Rapids High School students did their part, volunteering for various city and park clean up acticities during โ€œDay of Serviceโ€ to the community, earlier in April. The litter pick up was also appropriately during โ€œEarth Monthโ€ observances. In addition to clean up, students assisted some individual property owners with raking and yard clean up.
