With a Badlands backdrop, filmmaker-athlete John Peter, right, with his able assistant Aaron Haugen. Don’t let the β€œHawley Nuggets” sweatshirt fool you. Haugen is an educator at the Hawley public schools, but he’s a Pelican guy at heart, graduating in 2008. Peter is a 2001 Pelican grad who returned to his hometown to teach and coach. The pair filmed the 2023 Maah Daah Hey race.
