Lay minister El J Arntson bid farewell to the Grove Lake Lutheran Church congregation Sept. 7, after more than two years as a Synodically Authorized Minister. A unique bond was formed, as Arntson’s theater background led to clever, meaningful, but fun faith messages for young and old. One of his trademarks was colorful necktiesβ€”so on his final Sunday, the entire congregation strapped on neckties, as shown in the photo here. Everybody enjoyed an old-fashioned church basement lunch following the farewell service. Retired in the Battle Lake area, Arntson will no doubt be returning for visits.
