Carol Splittgerber

Carol Splittgerber, 79, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, January 14, 2024. Carol June Ackerson was born June 28, 1944 to Albert and Eleanora (Olson) Ackerson in Fargo, North Dakota.

They resided in rural Harwood, North Dakota until moving to a farm near Elizabeth, Minnesota in 1949. Carol attended rural school District #16 thru sixth grade. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1962. Upon graduation she went to work for Doctor H.W.

Britt as a dental assistant. On May 4, 1963 she married Dennis "Denny" Splittgerber.

They lived on the family farm in Friberg Township with a brief stay in Bemidji, MN where their daughter Kathy was born. Their daughter Denyce was born in Fergus Falls.

Carol was a self-taught piano and organ player. She served over 50 years as a church organist, first at Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth and then at Tonseth Lutheran Church.

At Tonseth Lutheran Church, she previously was a Sunday School Teacher and accompanist. She served on church council, was Ladies Aid president, the choir accompanist and also a member of the worship committee.

Carol and Denny served as 4-H leaders for Maplewood Parkers 4-H Club when the girls were involved. Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Dorothy Yoder; granddaughters, Amanda and Angela Boyd; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Thelma Splittgerber, and brothers-in-law, Fred (Darlene) Splittgerber and Earl Melkert.

Carol is survived by her husband, Denny Splittgerber; her two daughters, Kathy (Richard) Klug and Denyce (fiancé, Dehreck) Boyd all of Pelican Rapids; two grandsons, Anthony Morgan and Andrew Klug; sister, Barb Melkert; sister-in-law, LaVonne (Mark) Kenyon, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m.

Friday, January 19, 2024 at Tonseth Lutheran Church, Erhard, MN with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church. Clergy: Reverend Bonnie Del Grecco Interment: Tonseth Cemetery, Erhard, MN Arrangements provided by Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
