GENE R. BAILEY

Gene Russell Bailey, 89, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away October 28, 2024 at Benedictine Living Community in Duluth.
He was born August 13, 1935 to Morris F. and Mamie Bailey at Breckenridge, Minn. He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1953 where he was an athlete and musician. He enlisted in the U.S. Army following high school and received training in the early days of computer technology. He also served in the 7th Army Band in Germany. He attended the University of Minnesota and then worked in the computer field for Red Owl and Hardware Hank in the Twin Cities and for Harcourt Brace Jovanovich in Duluth.
He married Julianne Kissinger in 1961. They were the parents of three daughters, Lynn Sherwin of Jacksonville, Florida; and Barbara Fedora and Jeanne (Jim) Atkinson of Duluth; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Dustrud; brother, Wendell Bailey; and son-n-law, Kent Sherwin.
He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and brother, Roger (Ingrid) Bailey.
A service and inurnment was held Monday, November 4, at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery, Duluth.
