Wesley Johnson
Wesley Dean Johnson passed away due to health issues at Pelican Valley Nursing Home on Sunday, October 27th, 2024.
Wes was born March 24, 1945, in Pelican Rapids, MN to Elrick and Emma Johnson. He attended and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. After high school, Wes began his lifelong farming career east of Pelican Rapids with his dad and brother, Don. Eventually, Wes branched off from dairy farming to begin raising Hereford cattle. His love of his cattle was very apparent to all who knew him. Wes also loved being on the tractor. He often mentioned that being on the tractor was where he found peace.
Wes was an avid outdoorsman and likely developed his love of the outdoors while growing up on Lake Lida. He spent many days with his brother, cousins, and friends fishing, boating, water skiing, and sailing. Lake Lida is also where Wes developed his passion for fishing and hunting which carried through his entire lifetime. In the winter months, Wes loved to snowmobile, update his snowmobile, and watch football.
In his retirement years, Wes spent hours watching the birds and squirrels that came to his deck to eat. Also important to him were his breakfast and lunch group of friends. They met consistently and Wes would not miss time as this group was very dear to him.
Wes is preceded in death by his parents, brother, and great-nephew.
Wes is survived by his nieces Stacie Gregoire (Danny), Monica Kaiser (Gary), Molly Haugrud (Casey), bonus nephew Yancy Wifall (Bobbie), great nieces and nephews, aunts, and many cousins.
Per Wes' request, there will be no funeral. However, a celebration of life and time of fellowship will be held on Sunday, November 10th from 2-4 pm at his niece's home on Lake Lida. (26164 Lida Shores Loop, PR). Coffee, dessert, and memories will be shared.
Condolences may be expressed on our website www.larsonfuneralpelicanrapids.com or sent to "The Wesley Johnson Family", care of LARSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE, P.O. Box 327, 12 5th Ave. NE, Pelican Rapids, MN, 56572.
