January 28, 1945 - October 21, 2024
Micnenne (Mimi) Helene Agnes Scheppler Uhrig, born on January 28, 1945, in Rothau, France, daughter of René and Marie-Louise (Schwebel) Scheppler. Mimi met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Uhrig, while he was stationed overseas teaching for the Air Force. They married on July 5, 1966, and soon after, they moved to the United States, settling near Bob's family in Ontario, Oregon. There, they welcomed their son, Ray, and Mimi continued to pursue her passion for languages.
The family later moved to Eugene, Oregon, where Mimi pursued her passion for languages, teaching French, German, and Spanish at the University of Oregon. In 1987, she and Bob returned to France to care for her father, a decision that demonstrated her deep dedication to family. After twelve years in France, they returned to the United States and settled in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.
Mimi and Bob became active members of Trinity Lutheran Church, where Mimi worked in the church office and later served as the church organist. Her devotion to music and her faith were central to her life. Mimi had a passion for many things-music, languages, reading, and crafting, all of which she generously shared with her beloved granddaughters, Kylie and Jessilyn. She found joy in volunteering, quilting, and leading Bible studies, and she was a loving presence to her family, friends, and community.
Mimi is survived by her son Ray and daughter-in-law Kim; her granddaughters, Kylie and Jessilyn; her sisters-in-law, Judy Uhrig and Ruth Uhrig; close family members Dave and Elaine Greiner; and nephews and niece, Don Uhrig, Jacques Scheppler, Marc Scheppler, and Sonia Scheppler. She will also be missed by many dear friends.
Mimi is reunited in peace with her husband Bob, her parents René and Marie-Louise, and her brother Henri.
