Terry Sjostrom Terry Sjostrom

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Terry Sjostrom, a beloved husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Terry peacefully departed from this world on December 28, 2023, in his hometown of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

He fought such a fight but finally lost his long battle with cancer. Born to Julian and Audrey (Schulz) Sjostrom on June 14, 1958, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Terry lived a full life, always surrounded by friends and family.

Terry graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. On March 13, 1977, Terry married his high school sweetheart Connie Larson at Faith Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids.

Soon after, he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1984 and later in the Reserves from 1984 to 1988. Terry's work ethic was unmatched, and he spent most of his career behind the wheel of his 18-wheeler.

He worked for Evenson Trucking in Pelican Rapids and Foltz Trucking in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Terry's entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-own Nelstrom's Flooring in his hometown.

While some might have called him crazy, purchasing the Birchwood Golf Course at sixty vears old was one of his best decisions. With Connie by his side, Birchwood became the gathering place for their friends and family.

Terry spent countless hours working, though he never considered it work. Terry was always willing to lend a hand to his friends, family, and all in his community.

All who knew him will remember his quick wit, big heart, and strength. Terry was a lifelong Central Lutheran Church member, a Lida Township board member, and an active Pelican Rapids Chamber of Commerce member.

Terry and Connie created a beautiful life filled with treasured, fun memories and unwavering support for one another. Terry will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 46 years, Connie Sjostrom, and his sons, Greg (Jessica) and Ryan (Molly) Sjostrom.

He was a devoted son to his parents, Julian and Audrey Sjostrom. Terry leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his grandchildren, Ethan, Katie, Zach, Isabella, Audrey, and Asher Sjostrom.

His memory will be cherished by his siblings, Mark (Karen) Sjostrom, David (Deborah) Sjostrom. and his siblings-in-law Carolyn (Joel) Nelson, Cheryl (Bob) King, Colette (Daryl) Haugrud, Cathie Thompson, Charles (Barb) Larson, Curt (Roxann) Larson, and Christie (Dave) Shulstad.

Terry also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who hold his spirit close to their hearts. Terry now joins his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kenny and Alice Joyce Larson, and his brothers-in-law, Roger Dillon and Dale Thompson, and niece Stephanie Larson, who preceded him in death.
