Robert "Bob" Resset
Robert "Bob" Edward Resset, age 87, of Mesa, passed away on August 24, 2024, at Friendship Village - Hospice of the Valley after a brief illness. Bob was born in Pelican Rapids, MN, to Theodore and Nora Resset, on June 21, 1937.
Bob was a proud father, grandfather, and friend who brought laughter to everyone around him. Known for his quick wit and fun-loving sense of humor, Bob always had a wisecrack ready for his friends and loved telling stories, often entertaining everyone at the table. His social nature made him a cherished friend to many and a respected figure in the communities where he lived.
After graduating from Pelican Rapids High School, Bob served in the Navy Reserve before returning to Minnesota where he met his first wife, Mary. They settled in Pelican Rapids with their four children: Laurie, LeeAnn, Tricia and Steve. In 1974, he married Bernyce Resset. They raised her 2 children, John and Pam, and their daughter Missy in Pelican Rapids before retiring to the good life in Mesa, Arizona where they spent the final 21 years of his life.
Bob began his career building homes with his uncle Gilman Resset before founding his own business, Bob Resset Construction, in the early 1960s. In 1974, he established Bob Resset, Inc., and opened Pelican Paint & Glass. Bob was deeply involved in his community, volunteering with the Lions Club, city council and the Pelican Rapids fire department for 22 years, serving as Fire Chief for the last 2 of them. Even in retirement, he remained committed to community service, contributing as an Apache Wells board member and working on Beautification projects for many years.
Some of his most cherished memories involve large family dinners and card games, evenings at Birchwood golf course, Canadian fishing trips, the annual crew campout at Poss Beach, and time spent with friends during his daily happy hour in Apache Wells, AZ.
Bob is survived by his wife Bernyce, children, Laurie (Jon), LeeAnn (Dan), John (Sheila), Tricia (John), Pam (Rick), Steve and Missy (Scott), as well as many nieces. nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Nora, brother Norris and beloved sister Margaret, who will be waiting for him with a warm reception and a song.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 6th at 10am at the Apache Wells Community Church in Mesa, AZ.
