It was in California that he met and married Hye Ok Kim. Following graduation, they moved to Maryland, where Jon worked at Fort Meade. Their two daughters, Megan and Molly, were born while living in Maryland. In 2005, They moved to Seoul, South Korea, where Jon was stationed at a military base, supporting the U.S. Army. He returned to Fort Meade, continuing his work for the National Security Agency until his retirement in 2022.
He was an avid sports fan, following the NDSU Bison, Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and even kept up with the Pelican Rapids Vikings. He enjoyed collecting things from his travels, including Lladro porcelain figurines, Persian rugs, and Jane Wooster Scott paintings. He had an appreciation for the musical arts, loved trying new foods, and was interested in military history, specifically that of the Civil War. He loved the simple things in life too, opting for scenic drives and walks whenever he could. However, what brought him the most joy were his girls - Megan, Molly, and Hye Ok!
He is survived by his wife, Hye Ok; two daughters, Megan (Samuel Sayampanathan) Rogelstad, and Molly Rogelstad; two brothers, Wayne (Carol) Rogelstad and Tim (Penny) Rogelstad; and one sister, Janet (Kirk) Lindberg, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
