Between scholarship awards and generous donations, generosity is uplifting for school, students

It’s like Christmas in the springtime for the Pelican Rapids schools and its students.

The spirit of giving and generosity was evident at the scholarship night program, with nearly $70,000 in financial awards to Class of 2023 members.

The contributions are also reflected in the monthly donation list, presented at the May 17 Pelican Rapids School Board meeting.

Three, four-digit donations were noted—including a $1,000 gift to the Pelican band program—from Thomas and Tammy Nordick.

A $2,000 donation from the school’s contract transportation company, Christianson Bus Service, Inc., was given to the Pelican Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The volleyball program was the beneficiary of a $1,000 gift from the Gilmore Weik Pelican Rapids Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5252.
