Fifth graders at Pelican Rapids Viking Elementary School worked through a unit of study focusing on how humans interact with Earth Systems as well as the impact of individual decisions on the Earth’s natural systems. 

This year the students were able to get firsthand experience while visiting the Pelican River, and seeing that the dam was removed and the rock rapids now installed in this same location. Mayor Brent Frazier discussed the process as well as the benefits of this project with the 5th-grade students, in all three classes.
