MnDOT invites Pelican Rapids businesses to pre-construction workshop

With the anticipated disruption of business during the reconstruction of main street Pelican Rapids—it’s never too early to start planning.

Though the project is more than a year in the future, businesses can begin forming strategies at a special meeting March 20.

Ahead of the 2024 project to reconstruct Highways 59 and 108, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the Small Business Development Center, will host a free business workshop called “Thrive during Construction” on Monday, March. 20, from 6 to 9 p.m., for local business owners and leaders.

The event will be held at the Pelican Rapids High School’s Fine Arts Auditorium.

The three-hour session will be facilitated by SBDC business consultants, who will discuss strategies and tactics to mitigate risk and help businesses thrive during the construction season. The first half of the workshop will cover business planning topics such as inventory control, cash flow management, staffing, and scenario planning.

The second half will focus on marketing and communication tactics.

In Pelican Rapids, especially those along the work zone, are encouraged to participate in the workshop.

An open house will be held in Pelican Rapids later this spring for the public to learn more about the project’s final design, construction staging, and more.

“We believe everyone should have an equal opportunity to enjoy the programs, services, and activities we provide,” stated MnDOT officials.
