The Pelican Rapids girls basketball team traveled to Thief River Falls for a section 8AA matchup last week.  

The Vikings were defeated by the Prowlers 46-36.  

 “It was not our night on the offensive end of the court as we could not get the ball to drop,” said coach Brian Korf.

Thief River Falls jumped out to a 6-0 lead, and the Vikings responded to take the lead midway through the first half.  

The Vikings led at halftime 22-18.

In the second half, the Vikings struggled on the offensive end of the court and scored 14 second-half points while giving up 28 second-half Prowler points.  

Pelican Rapids shot 32% from the field, while Thief River Falls shot 34%.  

The Vikings went to the free throw line four times and made two free throws, while the Prowlers went to the free throw line twenty times and made twelve free throws.  “We got into foul trouble which did not help us and we did not get to the free throw line enough tonight,” said coach Korf.

Morgan Korf led the Vikings with 12 points, while Anna Roisum scored 9 points.  Ellie Welch scored 5 points, and Kelsey Isaman and Claudia Gurath chipped in 4 points each.  Hazel Haugrud added 2 points for the Vikings.

Korf led the team with 6 steals, and Haugrud had 2 steals.  

Thief River Falls outrebounded the Vikings 32-29.  Welch led the Vikings with 12 rebounds, while Korf and Isaman grabbed 4 rebounds.
