Rebounds give Lady Vikes big edge in 48-30 win at Frazee

0The Pelican Rapids girls basketball team traveled to Frazee in a Heart O’Lakes conference game Jan. 21.
The Vikings defeated the Hornets 48-30.
“We were more aggressive on offense and did a nice job on the defensive end in both halves,” said coach Brian Korf.
In the first half, the Vikings built a 16-9 lead during the first eight minutes of the first half and went into halftime with a 25-17 lead.

The defense of the Vikings picked up their intensity and held Frazee to 13 second-half points. Pelican added 23 second-half points.
The Lady Vikings shot 48.7% from the field, while Frazee shot 23.1% from the field. The Vikings went 7 for 8 (87.5%) from the free throw line, and Frazee went 4 for 11 (36.4%) from the free throw line.
The Vikings outrebounded the Hornet 42-26.
“We did a nice job on the boards but struggled to value the basketball with 24 turnovers,” said coach Korf.
Ellie Welch and Morgan Korf led the Vikings with 11 points each. Kelsey Isaman and Hazel Haugrud scored 8 points each for the Vikings. Anna Roisum scored 4 points, while Claudia Gurath, Megan Guler, and Zayli Arrow added 2 points each.
Korf led the Vikings with 8 assists, while Gurath and Welch dished out 2 assists each for the Vikings.
Korf had 5 steals to lead the Vikings, and Welch had 1 steal.
Isaman led the Vikings with 11 rebounds, Korf with 8 rebounds, and Anna Roisum had 6 rebounds. Grace Backstrom and Haugrud grabbed 5 rebounds each.
The Vikings have a 12-3 overall record and are 6-1 in the Heart O’ Lakes conference.
