Lida hosts annual junior golf tournament Aug. 14

The Lake Lida Junior Golf Club will hold its 26th Annual Junior Tournament on Sunday, August 14, at Lida Greens Golf Course.

The summer event for young golfers has become a lakes area tradition, attracting not only area youth, but players from around the region.  

All junior golfers up to the age of 17 are invited. There will be trophies and prizes for the winners. Food and refreshments are available all day. Lida Greens is located four miles east of Pelican Rapids on Route 108 at Lake Lida and is an executive course rated by the Minnesota Golf Association. Registration will begin at 8 a.m.

Flight Two – age 12 and under – will compete in teams of two and play “Scramble.” This flight will begin play at 9 a.m. Winning and Runner-up teams will receive trophies and prizes.

Flight One – age 13 through 17 – will play in teams of two and play “Best Ball.” This flight will begin play at 11 a.m. Winning and Runner-up teams will receive trophies and prizes. Individual scores from this flight determine those qualifying for the Championship Flight.

Championship Flight – will be an individual competition between qualifiers. Boys compete against boys (blue tees) and girls against girls (white tees). The Championship Flight will begin play at about 1 p.m. or after Flight One completes. Trophies will be awarded to the winners and runners-up of this flight.

The boy and girl winning this flight will be the Lida Greens 2022 Junior Champions.

The cost is $30 per person. You are requested to pre-register, but this is not required. You must designate your own team, so find a good partner. Handicaps will not be used in scoring.
