Viking Track and Field sent six athletes to compete in eight events at the Class A State Track and Field Meet on Thursday, June 9, and Friday, June 10, hosted at St. Michael-Albertville High School.

In his first year of track and field, senior Brayden Ecker found his spot on the podium, earning All-State honors with his fifth-place finish in the high jump. Ecker was perfect over the bar, with no misses through 6-0, and helped secure a higher overall finish.

Freshman Charlie Larson made his first state appearance running the 3200m and 1600m run. Larson finished with two personal bests and just a second off Zach Bruns’ 3200m school record set in 2004 of 9:59.40.

Nick Haugrud capped off a stellar track and field career at the state meet with an eighth-place finish in the discus. Haugrud fouled his first two throws but came back with a 149-10 ft third throw, qualifying for the finals.
