Includes fitness programs for high schoolers, families

Pelican Rapids schools have announced their summer sports and recreation offerings. Participants will receive a t-shirt, have fun, discover new talents, and make friends!

Baseball and Softball offered up to grade 6

T-Ball and Rookie Ball for boys and girls in second grade down to Pre-K, and Knot Hole Baseball or Pee Wee Baseball for boys in grades 3 and 4, respectively. Pony Tail Softball is offered for girls in grades 3 through 6. All practices are held at Chauncey Martin East or West. 

Soccer for three age groups

Boys and girls will have the opportunity to play co-ed soccer in 3 different age groups. Pre-K 4 and 5-year-olds, Kindergarten through second grade, and third grade through fifth grade all meet June 6th-30th. Kids will need running shoes and shin guards, but no cleats.

Practice your swing with pickleball or golf

Boys and girls who’ve completed grades 3 through 8 can play pickleball or golf this summer. Pickleball paddles will be provided at Chauncey Martin Courts, but you’ll need to bring your own golf balls, clubs, and tees to Birchwood Golf Course. 

Open Gym and Speed, Strength Training

The Al Siegle Activity Center will be open from 6-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday from May 31 until June 28. All ages are welcome, but ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Also taking place in the activity center and on Chauncy Martin Field is the Speed and Strength program for grades 7-12 with instructors Eli Beachy and Laura Januszewski. The class will take place from 6-9 a.m., Mondays through Thursdays.
