The spirit of Faith lives on in the greater Pelican Rapids area.

A sextet of women have been inspired by the late Faith Westby to carry on with good deeds and gestures of kindness. Faith was the Pelican high school girl who captured the hearts of not only the area, but the state and nation in her medical struggles over her 16 years.

“Faith Keepers” are keeping her spirit alive with various worthy projects, including an upcoming six-family garage sale. All proceeds will be contributed to the Ronald McDonald House—which was a blessing to the Westby family during her many hospitalizations.

The sale is Oct 29, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at 801 5th St. SE in Pelican.

The Faith Keepers also adopted a stretch of highway, on County Road 3 near Central Lutheran Church. The crew picked up litter on Oct. 11, and also last spring.

The Faith Keepers are Jeannie Westby, Pam Bakken, Julie Livdahl, Diane Erickson, Laura Hagen and Mary Stoltman.

Another Faith Keepers project resulted in a donation to the Crisis Center in Fergus Falls.

The six family sale Oct. 29, will feature a range of materials — clothing, furnishing and miscellaneous.
