The Pelican Rapids Vikings traveled to WCA on the last game of a 5 game stretch in 8 days.
The Vikings started very strong with good blocking by Ellie Welch and Taia Marich. The Vikings all night had its strongest blocking of the year with 8 block kills.
“We knew tonight we needed to be stronger at the net offensively and defensively. We did a good job defensively at the net all night,” said Coach Heidi Isaman. “Our serve receive also was a huge improvement tonight setting up our offense to be more successful.”
Morgan Korf and Kelsey Isaman passed the ball very well all night to give setter Sophia Paulson more hitters available for the offense. When we executed, Pelican had lots of strong kills tonight.
Outside hitters Tori Stephenson and Kelsey Isaman swung with power from front and back row.
“Unfortunately we had a hard time getting any longer runs going due to too many unearned points we gave to the Knights on hitting and service errors,” said Coach Isaman.
“We also really struggled defending their short tip game and the Knights did a good job capitalizing on this. The Vikings fought hard and made some huge improvements tonight, but too many errors hindered us to get a big enough run going.”
The Vikings lost with scores of 20-25, 19-25, 16-25.
The Vikings have a few days off after this busy stretch and will host DGF for a conference match up on Thursday, October 14.
