Scouting has diversified over the decades, but it continues to be an avenue to connect youth to the outdoors.

And new Pelican area Scouts can receive a free fishing pole, to enjoy the outdoors.

Sign-up night for Cub Scouts will be Thursday, September 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Cub Scouts are open to boys and girls in grades K-5.

Scouts BSA is for ages 10-18. Youth who join Scouts in the fall of 2021 will receive a free fishing pole.

When a parent submits a completed and paid youth application the child will receive a red fishing pole voucher. Families can then come to the Boy Scouts Northern Lights Council office in Fargo or go to a fishing event to exchange the voucher for a fishing pole.

Fishing events that are open to the public are set up around the district where all the new Scouts will be able to use their new fishing poles.

All current Scouts are welcome and should invite a buddy to go fishing also.

The Pelican Rapids fishing event is October 3, 2021 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Check out the Scouts Facebook page for more information and to see all ten of fishing events in the District. https://www.facebook.com/PrairieFireDistrict.
