Alcohol was a likely factor in two Otter Tail County roadway accidents over the Fourth of July weekend.
One accident resulted in a serious injury while the other accident did not have an injury.
Life flighted to the hospital in Perham following an accident on Highway 35 near Dent was the driver, 38-year-old Chris Pechtel of Richville.
Responding to the scene of the accident, at 7:50 p.m. on Friday, July 2, were members of the Dent Fire Department, Dent Rescue and Perham Ambulance.
A passenger in the Pechtel vehicle, 50-year-old Chad Pechtel, of Moorhead, was treated and released from the Perham hospital. The driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts in the vehicle, a 2007 Lincoln Navigator SUV.
Escaping injury during a crash north of New York Mills, at 9:54 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, was 52-year-old Kevin Dreyer of New York Mills. He was thankfully using his seatbelt.
Sheriff deputies said that Dreyer’s vehicle drifted off the roadway at the intersection of Highway 8 and 565th Avenue, struck an approach and went airborne.
Dreyer was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Prism passenger car which sustained heavy damage.
