‘Retired’ seating from Red Horse Ranch bolster Pelican sports venues

The bleacher installation is complete, following the purchase at bargain prices from the former Red Horse Ranch facility in Elizabeth.

The main stand is in place at the David Brown soccer field, as well as a split section of bleachers behind the goal on the west end of the soccer field. Portions of the bleacher acquisition were placed at the softball complex in Pelican Rapids. Another small set will be installed at the second softball diamond in the future.

The bleachers were acquired for $67,500. The seating had been part of a much longer timeline of improvements at the soccer field, and were expected to costs several hundred thousand dollars.

“It went from a soccer field to a stadium with the bleachers,” said school facilities superintendent Trevor Steeves. “It’s pretty impressive.”

Meanwhile, acquisition of the stadium lighting from Red Horse are also nearly complete, which will also be obtained at a substantial savings by Pelican Rapids United Soccer Association. Timeline for transporting and installing lighting is pending, and is expected to require a specialized contractor for removal and installation.
