Parade, Rotary feed, dance planning underway

Things are slowly returning to normal, as summer festivities return to the schedule in the Pelican area—including the half-century tradition of the Rotary Club turkey BBQ.

The special recipe, pit-cooked turkeys will again be served during Pelican Fest weekend, June 26.

The Rotary Club has been working on the popular event for several months, and carefully considering pandemic concerns.

The feed will be served much like the past, starting at 10 a.m. on June 26—and continuing until it’s all gone, after the 11 a.m. Pelican Fest parade.

The Rotary Club is emphasizing advance ticket sales, in an effort to plan cooking and serving in the post-COVID environment.

Advance tickets can be purchased through several Rotary member-locations:

• Minnesota National Bank

• Pelican Drug

• Larry’s Super Market

• Krekelberg Law Office

• Pelican Rapids Press

Advanced ticket holders are recommended to arrive as early as possible, to ensure there is plenty of turkey remaining.

A wide variety of Pelican Fest activities will be returning for 2021, following the 2020 pandemic cancellation.

Details are pending with area organizations and the Pelican Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Pelican School Gala committee is planning the bean bag toss tourney, and the VFW Club will be the headquarters—and also the site of the Pelican Fest street dance.
