‘Senior Night’ celebrated with decisive Lady Vike victory over Frazee

The Pelican Rapids girls’ basketball team honored their seven seniors at their home game against Frazee Feb. 18.  

Chloe Paulson, Mia Stewart, Vanassa Booth, Rachel Guler, Anna Stephenson, Allie Haiby and Greta Tollefson were recognized on Senior Night.  

In the Heart O’ Lakes conference matchup, the Vikings defeated the Hornets 61-30.  “This was a good win for the girls and it was nice to see so many players contribute in the scoring column, said Coach Korf.      

The Vikings jumped out to a 5-0 lead with baskets from Greta Tollefson and Mia Stewart.  The Vikings continued to build the lead and led at halftime 34-21.  “We ran transition well and limited open looks for Frazee,” said coach Korf.

In the second half, the Vikings held the Hornets to nine points. “Our defense was solid for the majority of the game and will need to continue to improve our rebounding,” said Coach Korf.

Greta Tollefson led the Vikings with 24 points and Morgan Korf scored 8 points.  Ellie Welch scored 6 points, Kelsey Isaman 5 points and Anna Stephenson and Mia Stewart each had 4 points.  Vanassa Booth had 3 points and Chloe Pualson, Rachael Guler, Zoe Kekaha each had 2 points.  Allie Haiby chipped in 1 point.  

Welch led the Vikings with 9 rebounds while Stephenson grabbed 6 rebounds and Isaman had 5 rebounds.

Korf, Pualson, and Booth led the Vikings with 3 steals  Korf dished out 7 assists and Welch dished out 5 assists for the Vikings.

The Vikings shot 48% from the field while holding the Hornets to 34%.  “We shot the ball well and attacked the basket well tonight,” said Coach Korf.
