Group has raised more than $800,000 for food programs, community pantries over past 12 years
Friends of Friends Fighting Hunger is celebrating the 13th year of fighting hunger in Otter Tail County.
The event has typically been a gala winter gathering, with music, food and auctions. But the COVID pandemic has shifted the fundraiser to a January 30, 2021, “Virtual Event.”
The live event begins online at 5 p.m., coordinated by Aasness Auctioneers, at Aasnessauctioneers.com.
Contributions to Friends of Friends Fighting Hunger make a substantial impact on the ever increasing number of Otter Tail & Wadena county residents who struggle with hunger. Currently in Otter Tail County there are 5,490 children and individuals who face food insecurity.
Over the past 12 years, Friends of Friends raised $22,408 for mobile food drops; $460,491 for the Children’s Weekend Feeding Back Pack Program in the eight school districts; and $390,305 for the seven food shelves in Otter Tail County and the Wadena food shelf.
