The COVID-19 pandemic has taken another toll on the Pelican Rapids school staff.
Longtime music teacher Jeff Peter submitted a letter of resignation to the school administration and staff.
Though Peter had already retired formally a few years ago, he had returned on a part-time basis to teach music in the lower grades.
In his letter to the board, Peter said that his decision was based on risk factors pertaining to the pandemic; combined with family wishes and doctor’s orders.
Peter thanked the board and administration for an opportunity to work with students for another year on a part-time basis.
Board member Mike Forsgren and Derrick Nelson, elementary school principal, both thanked Peter for his years of service.
“He will be missed not only by students, but also the staff,” said Nelson.
