Highway officials, motorists, and neighbors around the Scambler Township, Clay and Becker County lines have been baffled by the power pole that was transformed into immense slivers, along Highway 34 northwest of Pelican Rapids.

One theory: The pole was assaulted by massive, prehistoric beavers that reclaimed the land, during the COVID-19 outbreak. Lightning is another possibility, but there hasn’t been much electrical storm activity—like most April-May seasons.

Any information explaining the unusual damage can be phoned in to the Pelican Rapids Press, 218-863-1421.
