Noah Kapenga at 182 against NYM.

In the last regular season event the Viking wrestling team traveled to Morris, to compete in the MAHACA Dr. Busian Tiger Invitational.

This was a very tough tournament with 11 ranked wrestlers.  An example of this was at 152 were there were the three state ranked wrestlers.

Jacob Wilits wrestled the 3rd ranked wrestler at 220; Johnny Ziebell the 9th at 170; Matty Zibell the 3rd at 152; and Sebastian Centeno the 9th at 138.

However, they were unable to win any of these matches.

Of the 12 wresters competing for the Vikings, seven of them placed.

The highest place winner was Senior Co-Captain Max Dykhoff who placed second at 152.

In the semi-final match he defeated Bret Duncan (WCA) 12-5 who had defeated him in the first match of the year. This should allow Max to be seeded higher in the upcoming Section tournament.

The last action for the Viking Junior Varsity wrestlers was at the MAHACA Dr. Busian Tiger JV Invitational in Morris. They were able to score 86.5 team points.  As there were no team scores released the team placing is unknown.

“We as coaches are very impressed with how much the JV kids have improved this year,” stated Coach Kapenga.
