Sweet fundraiser was a indulgent success…and raised awareness
for ‘Welcome Place’

The Welcome Place in Pelican Rapids held their First Annual Chocolate Affair at Calvary Evangelical Free Church on Friday night.

This event was a fundraiser for the non-profit organization and provided an opportunity for the community to attend, enjoy and learn more about The Welcome Place.

Those who attended were treated with an abundance of chocolates, caramels, cake pops, brownies and many other decadent treats, some of which were gluten free. For a nice alternative, there was also a table with crackers, cheese fondue, breads, meat and cheese slices as well as fruit kabobs.

Setting the ambiance with keyboard melodies, Greta Johnson, Violet Solinger and Connie Evenson performed for the event.

The organizers thank the community for its generosity of those who attended to support of The Welcome Place. Also, to those who contributed their pocket change to the Ministerial Association Fund. The organizers look forward to being in touch with and providing opportunities for you to become involved.

For those who may not have been able to attend, please keep the event in mind for next year, noted volunteer Kris Thompson.   If you would like to learn more about the Welcome Place or have questions on how you can become involved, please contact us at (218) 863-2260 or at
