Known as the “tire guy” in Pelican Rapids–with the uncommon nickname “Grasshopper,” Kevin Nelson is the subject of a benefit December 8, at the VFW-Pelican Rapids; from noon to 3 p.m.
Olson has been a familiar face at both the Napa store and OK Tire for many years.
On Thursday, October 17, “Grasshopper” was on his way to North Dakota to hunt with his family. On the way he suffered two strokes which occured on the back side of his brain and affected his walking ability, his eye sight, and his speech.
He spent several days at Sanford Hospital in Fargo undergoing multiple tests. He was then moved to another Sanford Hospital for acute rehab therapy. Kevin has returned home, but is facing medical and related bills that have been piling up–causing a financial burden.
Currently unable to work, it will be a few months before Kevin is able to return to OK Tire. The benefit, hosted by his many friends and family, will help with medical expenses and ongoing future treatments.
“Taco in a bag” will be served, with free will donation for food.
There will also be a silent auction.
All Wells Fargo locations can take monetary donations for the Kevin Nelson Benefit.
