From Pelican to Vergas to Dunvilla and the countryside, its
beginning to look a lot like Christmas with wide array of holiday events
Christmas season events have been scheduled throughout the Pelican Rapids area.
The kick-of to the holiday season is in full swing this weekend, with downtown activities all day Friday, Nov. 29, and the Lighted Horse Parade at 6:30 p.m.
The Just for Kix holiday dance show is 7:30 p.m. at the high school gym, Friday night.
“Small Business Saturday” is Nov. 30, including Breakfast with Santa fromm 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Mill Pond View Apartments including photos with Santa himself.
Vergas will host a “Christmas Gathering” December 1, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Vergas Community Center. Music and baked goods will be featured, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society and the Vergas Relay for Life team.
North Immanuel Lutheran Church presents the annual Christmas Concert and fellowship supper, Dec. 4, beginning at 5:15 p.m.
On Dec 7, it’s the “Lefse Day and Bake Sale” at the Pelican Rapids Senior Citizen Center from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Historic Scambler Church, south of Pelican Lake off Highway 34, will host its favorite, traditional family Christmas program Dec. 7, 7:30 p.m. Santa will visit.
Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Faith Lutheran Church opens its doors for a smorgasbord of homemade goodies by members of the congregation. The rule of thumb for this event is–arrive early. The shopping spree for holiday goods is fast and furious.
The Barn at Dunvilla has several events Dec. 7, all day, with a vendor and craft fair, and sleigh rides.
The annual Barn Christmas concerts are 7 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday in Dunvilla.
The Barn is also hosting a “Holiday Glam Show” on Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Santa will be coming to Erhard on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Erhard City Hall. Hosted by the Fourth of July Celebration Committee, the event will also include treats, crafts and even hayrides if the weather permits.
Another happening in Erhard is the Heart O’ Lakes Mens Chorus concert at Grace Lutheran Church, Thursday, December 19, 6 p.m.
Salvation Army Red Kettle at Larry’s; volunteer bellringers invited
Larry’s Super Market will again be hosting the familiar Salvation Army Red Kettle this holiday season.
Volunteer bellringers are invited to sign up for shifts. Donations at the kettle supports the Fergus Falls Salvation Army Corps, which serves Otter Tail County–including the Pelican Rapids area.
