Author’s note: I was fortunate to have known Truman Strand. He was one of the first non-turkey plant people I met when I first moved to Pelican Rapids. I felt like an outsider in town back then… until one day I went to the hardware store.
Truman waited on me and asked me if I was new to the area. I told him about myself, and we got to know each other. He was so warm and friendly. He welcomed me to Pelican Rapids and made me feel like I belonged here.
I will never forget that conversation with him.
