The 30th Annual Community Blood Screening will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., September 9 – 13. The screening will be located at the Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes EMS building located at 225 Park Street. Please park in the patient/visitor lot and walk into the EMS building.

No pre-registration is required.

Blood screening can provide important information for diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. Depending on your age, blood screenings should be conducted at least once per year. This year’s panel will focus on cholesterol and blood sugar. Analysis will include cholesterol (blood lipids), triglyceride (blood fats), high density lipoproteins (HDL), low density lipoproteins (LDL) and glucose (blood sugar). You are encouraged to visit with your primary care provider regarding any additional testing that is not currently offered through this screening event.

The cost will cover collection of blood samples, professional analysis of samples and results report. Staff will also be on hand to answer questions about diabetes prevention and Advance Care Planning. Refreshments will be provided after samples are drawn.

Before the test, you should restrict food and drink for 10-12 hours. It’s okay to drink water. Please contact your primary care provider with any questions about taking prescribed medications.

Other partners in this blood screening event include the Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary and Sandford Health. All proceeds benefit Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary Club’s scholarship activities.
