New Pelican park board member named

The warm breeze on Saturday night brought in just over 100 people to Veterans Memorial Park to watch 101 Dalmatians for outdoor movie night hosted by the Pelican Rapids Park Board.  The evening was sponsored by the City of Pelican Rapids and equipment was rented from Ottertail Telecom.

“It was a beautiful night,” said park board member Kate Martinez, at the July 30 Pelican Rapids City Council meeting.  “But the mosquitoes were kind of a bummer,” she added with a laugh.

In other park board news, a new member was approved by the council:  Marion Perez.

Also, parks superintendent Brian Olson reported that an estimate of $975 was received to replace the main sign at Sherin Park. The council approved the expense.

The rails are expected to be shipped and installed at the new pedestrian bridge, on the west side of the downtown business district, during the week of August 19.
