July Summer Activities have been set at Maplewood State Park.
• July 16, Meditation at Maplewood, 6:30 – 7:15, Josh Hanson Memorial Picnic Shelter
Meditation will be facilitated by Sue Nyhus. Sue is licensed and teaches classes on meditation. For more information contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or 218-731-1827. No charge for this activity, but you will need a Maplewood Park pass. Bring a lawn chair. Final class will be Thursday, August 15, 2019 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
• July 20, 9:00, Wild Edible Foray, Maplewood Trail Center
Learn about many of the wild edible opportunities that the outdoors have to offer. There will be a brief presentation on seasons, habitats, good harvest practices, and preservation. We will head out on a road trip to search for some of the things discussed. We will meet back to cook and sample some of the edibles found. Bring: basket or bag for edibles, bug spray, wear clothing to walk in the woods, small knife.
Greg Stetz will be the instructor. Meet at the Maplewood Trail Center. No charge for this activity, but you will need a Maplewood Park pass.
• July 26, Music at Maplewood, 7:00 – 8:30, The Original Castaways Dennis Craswell & Logan Stewart
Dennis & Logan are original members of The Castaways. Dennis is a Co-Author of song: “Liar Liar” fame, number one hit from 1965. He lives in Detroit Lakes and is originally from Richfield.
Dennis has six Rock ‘N Roll and Country Hall of Fame awards. They will be playing Music With That Island Groove. Dennis plays at many venues up north during the summer and the Rio Grande Valley and Padre Island in the winter months.
Concerts are free, but you need a MN State Park sticker to get into the state park. Come for an enjoyable evening of music at the Josh Hanson Memorial Picnic Shelter. Bring a lawn chair. Come early and bring a picnic lunch.
