The entire world observed the anniversary of the D Day launch of the invastion of Europe last week, June 6.

Among the local connections, pictured here, ready for the D Day cross of the English channel is Staff Sargeant Bob Frazee, U.S. Air Corp, 75 years ago.

The late Bob Frazee was the longtime owner of Frazee Texaco in Pelican Rapids. The photo was submitted by Jim Frazee, a Pelican Rapids High School graduate in the late 1960s, who was also one of more than 100 who earned their Eagles Scout award with the Pelican-based scouting program.

Jim notes that his two uncles served in World War II, Fremont and Douglas Frazee. “Also salute to all veterans,” added Jim Frazee.

He described his father Bob as a “hero, a tough boss, advisor, fishing and minnowing partner.”
