Viking Rustand earns 2nd ‘perfect’ patch for marksmanship

Target team shooter Tim Rustand has two “perfect game” patches in two years. Rustand, a member of the Pelican Rapids High School trap team, shot a perfect 25 of 25 clays last year; and repeated again this year. He is a junior at PLHS. The perfect score patch is displayed here, with Rustand at left, and at right, one of the coaching team, Gary Kowalski.

The Pelican Rapids Viking Trap Team is entering its third week of online competition against other schools that have between 27 – 37 athletes.

Barnesville, this season, is in the online conference.  The athletes have shown solid resilience during a few cold days this season, but has not shot clays within any blistering snow or rain days, yet.

The only factor, which the athletes are not allowing to be a factor, mentally, is the wind that they have competed against at practices this season.

Overall, the athletes are steadily improving anywhere from 5 clay targets up to 11, said Coach Sheri O’Brien.

“Our team of 32 athletes have been working well together within their fluid groups,” noted O’Brien.
