A second public input meeting on “streetscape” planning along Highways 59 and 108 in Pelican Rapids is set for May 23, 7 p.m. at the Lake Region Electric Cooperative community meeting room.

Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend and provide input on plans for sidewalks, bicycle routes and handicapped accessibility.

The planning effort will help the community visualize the future, in anticipation of a major reconstruction of two state highways through town–which is scheduled for 2024.

At the first session in April, concerns were expressed over potentially narrow driving lanes and possible congestion through the downtown business district.
