The Pelican Rapids lady Vikings team traveled to Barnesville in a Heart O’ Lakes conference game Jan. 31 and defeated the Trojans 58-28.  

“We started off slow but battled back to take the lead and built a nice lead before halftime,” said coach Brian Korf.  

Barnesville came out strong, taking a 7-0 lead to open the game. The first twelve minutes saw a tight knit ball game with the Vikings having a 16-15 lead. The last six minutes of the first half Pelican Rapids went on a 13-3 run to take a 29-18 halftime lead.

The lady Vikings opened the second half with a 7-1 run to open up a 36-19 advantage. “We came out with good energy in the second half”, commented Coach Korf.  

Adriana Torres led the lady Vikings, scoring 19 points, dishing out 4 assists, gathering 7 rebounds and coming up with 4 steals. 

Greta Tollefson contributed a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Anna Stephenson had 8 points and 5 rebounds, Maddie Guler scored 6 points, dished out 4 assists and had 4 steals.  Kaylie Isaman had 2 points, 4 assists and 5 rebounds.  

The Vikings shot 42% (23-54) from the field and held a 34-26 advantage on the boards.

Lady Vikes hope to avenge only loss at away game in Hawley

 The Pelican Rapids Lady Vikings were slated travel to Hawley Tuesday night, Feb. 5, for a Heart O’ Lakes conference game.  

The Nuggets gave the Vikings their one loss this year in December.  

The Vikings are 18-1 on the season overall and 7-1 in the conference.
