Pelican Rapids girls basketball team opened up the Minnesota National Bank holiday tournament against Norman County East-Ulen Hitterdal.  The Vikings defeated the Titans 60-34 to advance to the championship game.  

“We came out aggressive on both ends of the court and did a nice job of finding the open girl to build a nice lead right away,” said coach Brian Korf.

The Vikings built a 29-13 lead in the first half.   The Vikings were stuck on 29 for the last four minutes of the first half.  “We need to find a way to score after we have not scored after two to three possessions,” commented coach Korf. 

In the second half the Vikings outscored the Titans 31-21 as every player on the roster played in the game for the Vikings.

Leading the Vikings in scoring was Kaylie Isaman with 13 points and Sarah Thompson and Adriana Torres with 8 points.  Anna Stephenson and Maddie Guler scored 7 points each and Ryley Paulson and Greta Tollefson had 6 points each.  Rachael Guler and Autumn Gummeringer added 2 points each and Abby Syverson chipped in 1 point.  

The Vikings shot 50% from the field while holding the Titans to 18.9% form the field.  

In the rebounding category, the Titans outrebounded the Vikings 39-35.  Stephenson, Tollefson, and Torres had 5 rebounds each for the Vikings while Thompson grabbed 4 rebounds.

Guler and Torres led the Vikings with 4 steals.
