Possibly first Hispanic in state to earn ‘Realtor of Year’

Arianna Zavala, pictured here at one of her listings in 2014, has been named “Realtor of the Year.”

A real estate professional who immigrated from Mexico with her family at age 6 –barely able to speak English –has been named the area’s Realtor of the Year.

The Lakes Country Association of Realtors announced Arianna Zavala, Pelican Rapids, as 2017 Realtor of the Year. She is one of few Hispanic real estate brokers in the region, and among first in the state to be receive the award by a regional association.

The honor was recently presented by Linda Stoll, President of the board of the association of Realtors.

Zavala is sales associate for Coldwell Banker Preferred Partners, Pelican Rapids.

An emigrant from Guanajuato, Mexico, Zavala has been in the Pelican Rapids-Otter Tail area for 20 years.

She enjoys the small community feel and the friendly atmosphere that has encouraged her love of life in the lakes area.

She started in the industry when she was 20-years-old and has amassed a great business portfolio over the past 10 years, which is very impressive for a young person in the trade.

“There is no gray area with this Realtor–right is right and wrong is wrong and her code of ethics is never in question,” said President Linda Stoll One of Zavala’s peers stated that, during a closing that they were present for, a rather complicated situation surfaced. The sellers (her clients) spoke little if any English, but with her bi-lingual skills, she was able to explain the issues and help her clients obtain a successful closing on the property.

“The approach that was taken to handle the situation was extremely professional and her kindness and patience made for an enjoyable experience,” noted Stoll.

The annual Realtor of the Year is the highest honor that the association can award to a member.

The recipient is nominated by their peers, then selected by the a special committee, an impartial panel made up of members appointed by the Board of Directors.

The Realtor of the Year is given to a member who best exemplifies the Association’s dedication to professionalism, volunteerism, and involvement in the community as well as in the Lakes Country Association of Realtors.

Zavala has been in the profession for 10 years and has a passion for helping families find that perfect home.

She has served on the LCAR Board of Directors and the Community Interaction Committee for several years.

She always puts her clients first and has created an excellent niche market with the immigrant and non-english speaking population in her service area, noted Stoll.

Brent Frazier, the Mayor of Pelican Rapids commented, “she serves on the City of Pelican Rapids Housing Study Committee and is knowledgeable of the housing needs of our community. Her expertise as a realtor has proven her to be very reliable within our city and community as she is dedicated to the needs and interests of her clients.”
