0Coaching Staff: Head Coach: John Peter, Assistant Coach: Cary Haugrud
Years As Head Coach: 8th year in Pelican Rapids
Captains: Emma Hoover, Emily Monson and TBD
Section: 8a, Conference: Hol
Record Last Year: We finished 4th in the HOL, 3rd in Section 6A true team and 7th at Section 8A.
Highlights From Last Year: 4th place finish at the State meet with our 4×400 meter relay which consisted of Maddie Guler, Abby Syverson, Kaylie Isaman and Jessica Weinrich, as well as qualifying our 4×800 meter relay which consisted of Grace Johnson, Tianna Wald, Mandi Sjolie, and Kaylie Isaman.
Key Athletes Lost: Grace Forsgren and Brianna Harthun were both important Sr. leaders we lost. We are also without Grace Johnson (key member of state qualifying 4×800 relay) due to ACL injury.
Returning Contributors: Aside from those 3 individuals, all remaining team members return this season from last year’s squad. Both Mackenzie Thornton and Kaylie Isaman will return with a strong presence in the 300 hurdles and Thornton will also feature in the 100 hurdles.
Guler, Syverson, Isaman, Weinrich, and Thornton also anchor a core of long sprinters capable of many different events on competition day. Wald will lead a solid core of mid-distance/distance runners who include Mandi Sjolie, Emily Monson and Chloe Paulson.
Haley Westby leads a group of utility type sprinters with leading roles in the shorter sprints and relays. This group includes Chloe Miltich, Larissa Seifert, Emma Kress and newcomer Riley Paulson. Seifert will also figure in a prominent role in the Long Jump.
In the throwing events, veteran Emma Hoover makes the full time move to the field events and looks to bolster our throwing line-up which also includes Rachel Lynnes and Adriana Torres.
Hoover will also feature in the high jump along with Section qualifying Riley Berg.
Key Newcomers: Too early to determine.
Top Teams In Section & Conference: Perham in the HOL and Park Rapids and Frazee in Section 8A.
