The Vikings battled Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Friday night and the Viking girls basketball team was handed an 81-56 defeat, ending the Pelican Rapids winning streak at three games and putting the Vikings at 10-10 on the season.
“We had too many turnovers (28) which led to easy points for DGF,” said coach Brian Korf.
The Vikings were down at halftime 45-20 and then added 31 points in the second half, but gave up 41 points. “We need to improve defensively to compete at higher level,” said coach Korf.
The Vikings turned the ball over 28 times while DGF had 9 turnovers. The Vikings shot 35.7% from the field while the Rebels shot 41.3%.
Adriana Torres led Pelican Rapids with 13 points and Sarah Thompson had 10 points. Rachel Gottenborg chipped in with eight points, Morgan Berg added 6 points and Maddie Guler had 5 points. Abby Syverson and Autumn Gummeringer each had 3 points. Kaylie Isaman added 1 point for the Vikings.
Berg led the Vikings with 11 rebounds while Torres pulled down 8 rebounds and Gottenborg grabbed 7 rebounds. Thompson had 6 rebounds and Guler had 4 rebounds.
