The Cougars shot 52% from the field and the Vikings made only 34% of their field goal attempts.

“We started off the game strong and were aggressive on both ends of the court for the first ten minutes of the game,” said coach Brian Korf.

The Vikings jumped out to a 11-4 lead but could not build on the lead and allowed the Cougars to take a 24-17 lead into halftime.

The Vikings struggled defensively to slow down the Courgars and gave up 36 second half points and only scored 20 second half points. The Vikings shot 50% from the free throw line by going 7 for 14.

Sarah Thompson was the only Vikings in double digits, scoring 10 points. Maddie Guler added 9 points and 4 assists, Adriana Torres finished with 7 points and 8 boards, and Morgan Berg had 7 points and 6 rebounds. Rachel Gottenborg and Greta Tollefsen scored 2 points each.

Pelican Rapids will hit the road on Tuesday for a Heart O’ Lakes Conference battle with the Hawley Nuggets and then travel to Wadena-Deer Creek on Friday night.
